Product Fibres in New Zealand
New Zealand Merino Sheep/Wool
Merino sheep are known as having some of the softest wool of any sheep. Merino wool is breathable and will wick moisture away from the body and release any moisture into the air resulting in added comfort and freshness. Merino wool is also known for its easy care and durability perfect for outdoor adventures.

New Zealand Possum/Fur
Possum fur is soft and warm. The fibre is hollow resulting in a garment that is light, breathable and resistant to breaking.

Possumsare an introduced species to New Zealand and are a threat to our environment, forests and native wildlife. They eat leaves, flowers, leaf buds, fruit, eggs, birds, insects and snails. As a result, the New Zealand government has declared possums a serious threat to the country’s biodiversity and an official pest, and has begun measures to eradicate them.

Possum – Merino combined
Combine the two and you have the best of both worlds. A garment that is breathable, durable and incredibly soft. It is light in summer and warm in winter – suitable for all seasons. Garment made of this combination have very low pilling and are washable. This is a combination like no other, a garment that is versatile and made of an incredibly unique fibre that will last and give many great wears on any adventure.

Hand Made by Artisan Producers
We sell products that are sourced from artisan producer – i.e. they are hand made and designed by the producer. If made by a manufacturer in New Zealand the factories are visited and their production and employment practices are discussed. Those chosen offer ‘best practice’. They also manufacture to Truzealia design briefs.

Through markets, craft shows and online. We try to use local and support many home based producers.
